The vineyard sits on the upper slopes of Chassagne Montrachet at 250 to 350 meters, on soils dominated by crinoidal limestone dense with marine fossils and very little topsoil to buffer what the rock contributes to the wine. The aspect runs southeast to south southwest, giving the vines long hours of direct sun
