Germany, Imperial. A Heer Tornister, by J.M. Eckart, c. 1917 Auction the interior with a maroon(Heer Tornister). A well preserved First World War Heer Tornister (haversack), constructed of a rigid wooden frame with an exterior liner and outer flap constructed of a weather hardened olive drab canvas. It retains a rabbit fur reverse exterior liner (a substitution for earlier cowhide examples reflecting late war material scarcity), with intact brown leather shoulder straps culminating in aluminum clips and D rings.
