Footnote: Ewald Kraus (19021994) was a recipient of the Knights Cross. At the end of the war he held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He fought with the Panzer Artillery Regiment 102 in Poland, France, and Russia. In late 1943 he joined the Heavy Artillery Detachment 672, and since September of 1944 he served with the Werfer (Mortar) Regiment 85, with which he participated
